We are doing this a LOT here right now. It became especially popular after Hurricanes Ian, Helene, and Milton hit here in quick succession.
If they have Enphase microinverters (very popular here), we typically keep them in the Enphase ecosystem with 5P batteries. If they have anything else, we typically recommend Tesla Powerwall 3, and try to sell some DC-coupled panels added on as well. We do NOT offer SolarEdge storage products, even if they have existing SolarEdge optimizers. We refuse to sell or service SolarEdge products, but we will add AC coupled battery backup to existing systems. If they want generator redundancy, the Enphase solution is a bit limiting, so we steer clear of that. For Tesla we will offer a generator interlock if they are willing to do things manually, or they can integrate a generator with automatic transfer switch on the load side of the Powerwall to power loads if batteries are depleted. If they want true redundancy, we recommend Midnite AIO with Powerflo16 batteries. However, I have only AC coupled a small PV array to the AIO so far. I'm not sure how to deal with larger systems, especially with parallel inverter setups. I am on the fence about EG4 like many others here, but the GridBoss is a compelling option when generator integration is desired. I believe you can AC couple to it when using any of their 18k/21k inverters with batteries.
