Hi, Mechanics ~

The general contractor put in a 2" PVC pipe before pouring the slab. The
pipe has a 90 degree sweep so there's a vertical pipe stub.
He thought there would be no code inspections for this remote property...
oops.

I now must use this plastic pipe for incoming PV wires. These wires will
terminate on a MidNite Power MN15‑12KW‑AIO, so question one:
Without embarrassing myself, can I argue that this qualifies for the
exemption as a PV ICS (Photovoltaic Integrated Control System)?
The PV arrays will be on top of an open horse shed, so I don't plan on any
form of "rapid shutdown".

Assuming that the above exemption won't get me off the hook, what are your
suggestions for retrofit? My five wires could comfortably fit 1" trade size
EMT
conduit. If I cut the PVC stub then glue on a male adapter (so I could
mount a metal box low to the floor), there's still some unprotected plastic
due to the hub of the male adapter.

Also: what would have been better initial tradecraft in a non-retrofit slab
situation, assuming that one wants to use PVC for most of the pipe run
while still satisfying
NEC 690.31(D) (1)?

Thanks in advance, Mechanix. "The Wrench List is the Bomb!"
