For what it is worth, I have installed a number of Wildcat generators ranging from 15KW to 50 KW. When I was a child my mother always told me that if I didn't have anything nice to say, don't say it. Team Wrenches, I am hearing alot about gen sets, some are small manufactures and once they are gone most of the parts will also be gone. Bluestar and Kohler have been around and l can still get parts for 20 year old machines. So consider service-ability down the road befor investing big cash in a small producer. Also 1800 rpm water cooled direct drives are far better than 3600 rpm air cooled or reduction drive models both life span issues. Drat. I remember the optimism from "Power Pioneer" Dana about Wildcat brand, so I'm sorry those hopes are dashed. Do any List members have experience with Hatz brand diesel generators or engines? Here's a distributor located only one state away from you, Dana: https://intelligentcontrols.io/collections/generators/products/hatz-fipmg-generator?variant=43890096832742 I can't tell if these are air cooled or liquid cooled. Liquid cooled would be especially dandy if one could reclaim some of the heat for beneficial purposes. The bigger Hatz gensets are only 5-ish kW before altitude derations are factored in... and surely electronics are required by the variable RPM feature. The native integration with Victron power gear caught my eye some years ago, and I've always had a soft spot for engine powered DC battery chargers... or maybe I'm just soft in the head. Hatz also packages AC versions but so far as I can tell, the American AC units are 120v only. Here are links from the US website for Hatz: https://hatz.com/en-united-states/products/ac-power-generation https://hatz.com/en-united-states/products/dc-battery-chargers I'm guessing none of these products have American style UL listings, so there's another possible issue. How about it, Power Pioneers? Have you any tales of real world Hatz experience, good / bad or indifferent? Q: How can one recognize a pioneer? A: They're the ones with the arrows in their backs.
