I've never been able to... you CAN if you get a Linux ODBC distro and want to buy drivers, but I've never heard of anyone doing something that silly when Postgress and even Firebird are available for Linux for free.

 

So yeah, you CAN. The *key* question is "Has anyone ever done something that silly?" :)

 

And there's no GUI for it, so Access applications don't work, it's just an ODBC-based relational flat-file thing. ;)

Access is platform-specific in and of itself.

 

Wouldn't that sort of justify the use of a COM object in this case?

I don't know that many people will be using access with reactor anyhow, so
