I may be getting greedy but how about both?

1. specify a global pktype in the <config> and a object pktype in the 
   <object> for exceptions 
2. specify the getUniqueID() in convention.cfc and then override as
   needed in the table DAO getConventions.

That sounds like a good solution to me but two questions:
1) the pktype would be specified per-object, yes?
2) where would the getUniqueID() function live?
