it isn't really fair to compare anything to VSS - it is a really
poorly implemented version control system.  We use SVN and PVCS here. 
PVCS is a bit more powerful but for most of our projects SVN is
sufficient.

We did use VSS once and we were pretty much throughly disappointed. 
Its the Yugo of version control :O)
