I'm systematically instrumenting sections of code with <cftimer
label="..." type="debug"> to find out what is taking time on a variety
of operations. I've already implemented caching on Dao, Gateway and
Metadata object fetches that has quite a big impact on performance
(and, in particular, negates the overhead of the current situation
that calls createMetadata() twice on each primary operation!).

I'll keep folks posted but expect performance enhancements to start
appearing this week (before cf.Objective()! :)
