Thanks Sean, I thought someone (namely you or Doug) may have a
workaround.

However, no longer an issue for me, I've convinced my manager to develop
locally on CF7 and update the UAT server in 2 weeks time.

Yup, this is a known bug in CFMX 6.1 on Windows that was fixed in CFMX
7. expandPath() respected mappings on Unix / OS X with 6.1 but not on
Windows. This is not a Reactor issue.
