It depends. I know that sound firewalls inspect the packets (because
it's really WebDav) and block even though they are on port 80. The only
way around that is to enable https. So there can be problems sometimes.

That's precisely the case at my office--we have to use https to hit
SVN. We're going to work with our IS person to try and resolve this,
but it probably isn't that unusual of a problem. The specific error
our firewall throws is something like "invalid request type."
