Ok, I think now I may really have it. I had this in my mg file:
<message name="modelglue.GenericList">
<argument name="object" value="Groups"
/>
</message>
But in the DB, my table was groups, not Groups. Fixing the case seemed
to do it.
I still think the error should have been handled by Reactor. It tries
to xmlSearch on an empty string which is always going to throw an
error.

This is ridiculous. I reinit my MG app this morning and the error
returns. The entire site goes down.
I can't believe something so simple as a 2 column table and simple
usage of reactor isn't being consistent. If this is my fault, fine,
but I'm now ready to just rip it out instead of using it.
I currently have 2 uses of reactor. Only one, for the group table,
causes this issue. When I nuke the Dictionary/Metadata files for
group, it fixes itself.
I can now reinit again multiple times w/o error, but I'm not sure if
it will return now.
