I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that Flash remoting (and
the other service) could use a query result set (or struct, array, etc.)
just fine? I know that Reactor TO's a nice becuase they can be autoconverted
to AS objects but I don't think there is any actual problem with using the
other types?

If you are having a service layer CFC return things, they should be plain
old
objects (TO/VO) because the remote end (Flex, Web service client, ...) may
not understand anything else. It's the same logic that says returning
native
query results is wrong.
