Thanks for asking this Matthew and thanks for answering Tom! After a little jiggery-pokery I managed to get this working nicely. Attached is the scary function that I've written for building a query based on the contents of a contact search bean. At the top of the function I need to always make sure that removed records are never included, but the search form allows the user to switch between an "and" or an "or" style search. When the user selected an "OR" type search "removed" records were being included, so I needed to have this queries separately. So where1 is basically "removed = 0" and where2 is the search criteria. The setMode() for where2 is dynamically set by the user's selection and where1 and where2 are always set as "AND" mode.
