@Dan: Nice idea, although I am a little late in the day on this project to implement it this time. I don't have control over the db and I have just noticed that the columns are straight integers and ignore any decimals anyway!! @Brian: I though NumberFormat() would do the job but it throws an error if i pass a number like this: 380,508.53 saying that it couldn't convert to number - very odd. @Tom: I already have a thin service layer in place so this is probably what I will try and do.

I thought there might be a nice function out there that I had missed which sort of reversed the formatting done by DecimalFormat so 380,508.53 would get converted to 380508.53 - I guess Replace() is the way to go!!

Your service layer (the interface between the world and Reactor) should take care of changing whatever formats come into it into what Reactor expects. In your case a very thin service tier would do - no need for anything scary
like AOP.
