In case you needed more evidence that s-expression syntax by itself is a serious liability, here's yet more evidence.

One of Common Music's major improvments is "SAL syntax (no LISP experience necessary)", which you can read more about here: http://commonmusic.sourceforge.net/doc/dict/sal-topic.html The big improvement for Common Music is to stop using s-expressions. But again, they have to roll their own. While it's often helpful to create specialized languages, there's no reason EVERYONE has to roll their own incompatible language to hide s-expressions. A common format that could be used by many, as-is, would be a big help. --- David A. Wheeler
