I know I need to add it to the login items (this is for Mac OS X),
but I don't know how. I was looking for a folder in the library in my
home folder but I couldn't find anything. Thanks,

For Linux - Call your app from within the
user's .profile, .kshrc, .bashrc,
or .cshrc file (depending on their shell).
For OS X - add your app to the Login Items for the user.
