The locate database is only up to date if you run "periodic weekly"
regularly (or automatically at 3 a.m. or so if you Mac is running all the
time).

If you don't want to drink from the fire hose, try

mdfind 'kMDItemDisplayName == "OSXvnc.app"cd'

and you'll get a better result, on Tiger at least.
