I'm not sure you can fix this, but here are a few suggestions:

1) Roll your own radio buttons.
2) Instead of a canvas, put the radio button on a white rectangle.
3) Instead of a canvas, set the background of the window to white and put
the radio button on the window background instead of the canvas.

I need to draw some radio buttons (with text) over a white canvas. The
problem is that on Windows, radio buttons have a gray background  
(the same of the window) I haven't found a way to draw them correctly

To solve with issue on MacOS X I just checked the composite window  
property...
