REAL is a co-conspirator then ?
RB 5.5.5 runs dandy on my iBook G4 933.
RB 2005 and 2006 are significantly slower on the exact same system.

RB 2005/2006 were built in REALbasic -- 5.5 was not. I think that explains it.

5.5 was a C/C++ app (which gets this back to why C/C++ apps feel faster than RB apps)
2005/2006 are RB apps

...that do a lot more than did the Rb 5.5 IDE.

You don't mean that the IDE is slow due to its complexity, do you?

The speed problem is (unfortunately) a good example, that even
the RB developer isn't able to get speed out of RB apps or doesn't
know where CPU cycles get lost.

Even tried XCode oder Interface Builder? Both apps have a fast UI
and non trivial UI. Not to speak from more functionality.

Ah, threads behave lightweight - and not like gum in RB. Ever closed a
tab in the RB IDE while the the IDE compiles something?
