1. All of the time
If the app is supposed to be a one machine solution, then duplicating
a system provided framework is not desirable in my opinion.
If the app is database centric, and multiple machines/clients will be
accessing a central customer database, then it's better to roll your
own solution IMO. I tried a solution for a customer that kept all of
the individual address book databases synced across all clients, but
it's not easy / reliable (only syncs contacts changed / created /
deleted from within my own client).
IMHO the next app that could best benefit from rendezvous (sorry,
Bonjour... bleh!) broadcasting would be the address book, so that all
computers on a subnet could transparently share their address book
contents.
Cheers,
Tom

From a user's perspective (instead of a developer), how often do
you actually use AddressBook?
1. All of the time (sync phone, PDA, etc)
2. Only for Email and iChat
3. Only for Email
4. Only for iChat
5. Never
As a user, would you appreciate an application using the
AddressBook or would you prefer a custom in-app solution
(especially if the contact data could be considered private)?
