For a forthcoming application I have been working on a ID3, MP4 and ASF tag handler. I mainly just wanted it for reading tags from the files.

It currently Reads:
ID3 1.0, 1.1, 2.2, 2.3 and 2.4
Quicktime Atoms in MP4 (it needs fixing to work with regular quicktime movies, but it doesn't require Quicktime installed to access the meta data) MetaData in ASF (WMA at least, not tried with WMV and it doesn't require WMP installed to read the Metadata)

As for writing, it doesn't do so yet. However I could probably knock out ID3 v1.1 writing ability over the weekend.

While I haven't specifically written it to access the artwork, I have every confidence that it can be made to retrieve the artwork and display it.

If you are interested in trying this class then please let me know (offlist)

I was wondering about this just a few days ago. I'd like to write an app that runs through my MP3 library and generates a list of tracks with missin=
g
artwork.

It looks like Christian never got around to handling the Picture data,
though. (The "tryPicture" method is all remarked out.)

Has anyone worked that part out? It looks like the method takes a single
parameter: "data". But I'm not sure where that string comes from. I'm
guessing it would be extracted somewhere in the class' parse method, but no=
t
knowing much about the MP3 file format, I'm totally lost.

Hi Richard,

Have you had a look at the MP3 Info Class project Christian has in his
website? It's a bit old but could be a good basis for further
development (=3Dwrite).
