the free licenses given away, licenses for previous versions not

Now, if they have 100K 2005/2006 current license holders -- that's
amazing and quite positive. Somehow, I just have to imagine that's a
stretch based on mailing list and bug report volume. Still, anything to
claim more numbers helps build confidence in the product.
Remember that Standard Linux was announced as "Free". Only the Pro version is
"paid for use"...
Borland gives two sets of numbers: the "3 million developer licenses"
and the (slightly) more accurate "1 million active developers." Because
BDS "phones home" when you launch it, they know which copies are active
-- and which patches you have installed.
a. I dislike strongly this kind of things,
b. I always shot down my computer and make a cold start before any Internet
connection (so they would never know what I'm doing with my computer). This is
not paranoia, but I prefer to run that way. Also, I shut down _AFTER_ the
Internet connect time and make a cold boot _BEFORE_ making anything (-AND_
REALbasic)...
The Cocoa news is good. Very, very good.
At last, I am waiting RS Press Release to talk about non announced products,
features, whatever...
