The only time I've seen this happen is when running Norton's anti-virus on
the Windows side.  The function that blocks worms also seems to block data
on the ports that the debugger uses.  Doesn't seem to fit your situation,
but...

I stand corrected. I brought another mac home from work with system 10.4.4 
and tried the remote debugger and it too failed. So perhaps the problem is
not 
the Mac update 10.4.5. However, I have no clue as to what would make it stop

working. Does anyone have an idea? It fails on three different macs running
to a 
windows machine (which is used only for RB testing and nothing else).
