I'm writing an article on refactoring in RB, and I'd like to include
the feedback IDs for assisted refactoring tools. Here are the ones I
know about (most of which I just filed):
akheejyo general automated refactoring request
kmbxrrmj Extract Method
fmofovyr Rename
ctdasirp Pull Up and Push Down
kcsogqqv Add Parameter
xvdanwpv Link overridden methods together for editing purposes
If you have any other specific refactorings you'd like to see, please
file them, and if you send me the feedback IDs in the next 6-8 hours,
I'll include them in my article.
Oh, and in case you're wondering why the general request (akheejyo)
doesn't cover it, it's because it's too general. It's a wildly
popular request, but one that can never really be completed, because
it's not asking for something specific. I think the RS team prefers
to work on well-defined requests that have a clear "OK, that's done
now" point. So, while the general request is useful as a sort of
gauge of interest, specific requests are more likely to actually get
implemented.
That last one, xvdanwpv, isn't a refactoring tool in the strict
sense, but it's certainly related. It's also important enough that
I'm going to describe it in a separate post.
Thanks,
- Joe
