Hi Sean, the List,
It may be time to add a Linux (all flavors/all platforms) List.
1. You have a French List where there was only one mail (or two ?)
this year (2006), less that 10 (?) in 2005;
so the traffic is not that important, and a Linux List will certainly
generate more traffic than a message every month or so...
2. I also get troubles with Linux (I used NetBSD, Debian, MkLinux 15 years ago)
3. It is a win/win/win solution:
win #1: the standard NUG user will not annoyed by those messages,
win #2: the standard Linux user experience will increase dramatically,
win #3: RS wil gain more feedback/ user experience
4. RS is targetting Linux and Linux users like REALbasic
read the PR: <http://www.realsoftware.com/news/pr/2006/linuxworld/>
5. Who can wrote a point #5 here ?
Regards,
Emile
PS: I had an article to write with a project, but I failed to do it just because
I couldn't go ahead with the project: I was unable to install a Linux distro on
my Pentium IV laptop, but I could run Live CDs, but I can't run REALbasic _OR_
load / save Projects... I can't even tell who's the faultive...
a. The hardware (I was able at a point to install a Linux distro, but not boot
on it)
b. The used Linux distribution (I tried three or four different ones),
c. REALbasic (Standard for Linux or Pro on Macintosh)
d. Debian 3.1a0r for ppc (unable to run yaboot ???)
I even buy an external Hard Disk (FireWire 400 / USB-2): invisible and crash
while I attempt to install Aurox when connected with a USB-2 cable. Visible, can
install Aurox on it with a FireWire cable, but unable to boot...
I am pulling my hair out / eating my hat (imagine how it is easy to eat an
imaginary hat...)
Please, Mr. REAL Software, could you be kind enough to add a "REALbasic for
Linux List" ? Please, Please, Please...
Regards,
Emile

Is there a place to read up on Linux dev using RB? I sure would like a nod
in the right direction here.
I cant believe anyone could pick up RB and dev Linux apps from another OS.
Is it just that I know nothing about Linux and one must go learn all the
Linux nuances on his own before attempting this? It sure seems like the LR
or UG should have some links, pointers or other heads ups about such odd
things. You know I dig RB, but this is fairly undocumented ground
AFAIC...anyone!?
Nota: it is a bit disturbing and funny to see a Linux distro boot on a PowerBook
G4 Alu (15", 1.5 GHZ); however I couldn't told you how nice are the icons
because I couldn't install it on the HD and boot from it...
