But for those keeping score at home: no-one has offered an example of class extension, other than the couple of corner cases I cited, where the results are clearer/easier to write/easier to maintain/ anything else convincing, using method overriding rather than Events.

Guyren, I can tell you that, despite a deep understanding of events and their advantages, I *do* have the need for method overriding on a fairly regular basis. You can accept this or not; I have neither the time nor the obligation to go dig up a specific example for you (if I were even at liberty to do so, which of course for contract work or code internal to REALbasic itself, I am not).

I hope you can offer an example at some point. This is a very important issue in best practice with REALbasic.

So for now, my assertion stands: Events are just better. You should use Events basically for all your class extension. Until someone makes a good case otherwise, that makes the feature request that started this discussion not very useful or important.

And this, frankly, is simply rude. Good day to you.

I don't think this was rude. You were discussing a feature request, and I offered my opinion on it. I didn't say anything to impugn you or your motives or abilities or anything of the sort. I'm sorry that you feel this way; it certainly wasn't my intention to offend.
