I am building an app to display, print and otherwise manipulate PDFs. The user will have the ability to import a PDF into the application, at which point I would like to index the text in it. Ideally, also track which page the text was on.

Does anyone know of a way to do that from within REALbasic, on both Mac and Windows? Also if there is any way to control the PDF display, such as scrolling to a particular page, or executing a search within Acrobat?

I would prefer not to require Quicktime on Windows, but would consider it if that helps.

Quicktime on Windows wont help anyways.
Only the OS X implementation allows you to open PDF's

You might check out Asher's PDF classes
Or, if you want the grand daddy of them all the PDFLib plugin from the PDFLib guys themselves
