No, I haven't thought of that. I did get things to work by
changing the listbox's width to zero, rather than hiding it. It
still seems like a bug in RB to me, though. I filed a bug report:

What is causing the beep referred to in the bug report? Windows beeps
when a msgbox is displayed....is it that beep?
