Now a days Linux Aplications are more like Windows if we talk about the
GUI, about instalation the comon way to distribuite is using RPMs but it
may differ from distros RPM is RedHat Package Manager, some other
distros use it, some have modifications to the standar RPM, so there is
not really a standard way. so most App developers have their own
instaler, you can do your own, a good practice will be to put all your
files at /opt/<your-app>/, the installer can be something as simple as a
shell script or a RealBasic aplication that creates and moves the
content to that directory.

Does anyone know if there is a "standard" way that Linux users would
prefer to have the software presented to them? Are there "Installers"
like there are on Windows that are commonly used?
Also, because the look and feel of a linux system may vary from system
to system, is there a "start" bar that users will want the icon
installed into.
I'm just wondering about some basic "linux" standard conventions when
it comes to distributing applications.
Thanks,
Ryan
