REALbasic says that I have 1261 fonts loaded which is why I didn't
want to compare font lists. I am curious... do you know which
fonts REALbasic listed which were not in the other lists?
Going font by font I found this:
Fonts in RB not in Word:
American Typewrite Condensed Light
Brush Script MT
Geeza Pro
Geeza Pro Bold
Fonts in Word Not in RB
Bauhaus 93
Now for the fonts that pop up in the list with Chinese or Japanese
characters word shows 8 fonts in those funny characters while RB
shows 21.
Applescript was almost identical to RB except that it shows the
Bauhaus 93 font and RB doesn't.
TextEdit is, to me, the worst offender. It shows all fonts in the
list, even those that I have turned off and it lets you select any of
those fonts only to then realize the font is turned off and then
presents the text in the default font, Lucida Grande. I thought that
I had turned off pretty much all of the foreign fonts since I have no
use for them but I see that a lot of them are back on which is
probably due to system updates.
1261 fonts on your system. Man, you certainly have to do some
scrolling don't you. I see why you didn't want to do a name by name
comparison. I would have to do a lot more searching to see if it
makes any difference whether fonts are in the user or the system
level fonts folders. I just know they are scattered all over the place.
This probably isn't going to shed any light on your problem but it is
interesting that font lists should vary, but they do just enough to
be a PITA.
