I have gone to some length trying to debug this, and have verified that all
libs are linking correctly. I believe that the GDK requirement was for RB
5.5 and is no longer required for console apps.
The underlying error is actually a Failed Assertion that only seems to
appear with apache 1.3 on Linux.
I have uploaded a compiled version of the script (compiled for Linux with
2005r4) to http://www.robject.com/CGIExampleLinux.zip

Looking at Charlie's Readme page for the CGI Example, he says that the
server needs the Linux GDK Library to be installed. You may want to check
this on your server if you haven't already. I do not know whether or not
this library is installed on my server. The only way to know is to test
it.

thinking the problem may be in our server configuration or within Debian
but I don't have another server to verify.
If you could give it a try and let me know what server your running and
whether or not it works, I would appreciate it. I'm running Apache 1.3.3
on Debian Sarge and building the app using RB 2005r4.
