Sounds like you're trying to remove all external dependancies from your app.
For that, you'll
inherently have to include the code for the operation within the program. In
other words, write
your own Picture-to-JPEG module.
I'd suggest you read up on the JPEG spec and look at some of the code examples
out there. I
haven't seen a native-RB implementation of Picture-to-JPEG before, I just
searched google and
found nada. It'd certainly be nice to have though!
I would assume that d.JPEGColumn uses QuickTime because f.SaveAsJPEG requires
QuickTime.
Furthermore, I have observed (using Activity Monitor) that d.JPEGColumn
actually writes the data
out to disk, so it's not suitable for diskless picture-to-JPEG conversion
anyway.
