Yes, I know it's for an old version, but the part I was referring was
ONLY to using the 'LIKE' with a index. Does SQLite currently uses an
index (if present) when the search is made with 'LIKE' or performs a
full table scan?

If you read the dump of an EXPLAIN you should be able to determine whether and index is or is not useful.

Past experience suggests that :

LIKE '%searchstring%' and LIKE '%searchstring' will not use any index
LIKE 'searchstring%' may use an index (in some engines it does)
LIKE 'searchstring' will frequently use an index

I have not found any definitive documentation on whether SQLite does or does not but doing this suggest that LIKE will NOT use the index
