Existing Code is there.
Middle Code Disappeared
Yet End Code Is there.
So for some reason the code in the middle was eaten for lunch by some
bug. or something.
and existing code and end code exist. This is strange.

I haven't seen this myself (and I'm using RB2006R1 a lot these
days). Could it be that you bumped cmd-Z? These keys are right
next to each other on both a QWERTY and a Dvorak keyboard... Or
maybe your keyboard is faulty, and sending cmd-Z signals without a
keypress? Next time this happens, see what's listed for Undo, and
whether choosing that brings the text back.
It's all I can think of that would delete a whole chunk of text at
once...
