I now, comparisons between Mac and PC are old refrains,but I would

I know, it is not a scientific benchmark, but all in all it
involves populating a listbox with data, and is true that's what we
do must of the time with REAL Basic in REAL world applications,
isn't it?
today I wrote and compiled the following little lines of code
-------------------------------
dim ind as integer
dim ris as double
ris = Microseconds
for ind = 1 to val(100000)
lista.addrow str(microseconds)
next
result.text = str((Microseconds - ris)/1000000)

a quite cheap Pentium 4 - 3 GHz - 768 MB RAM: 5.25 seconds !
G5 double 2 GHz, 2,5 MB RAM: 12.2 seconds !!
MacBook Pro, Dual core 2 GHz, 2 GB RAM: 27.2 seconds !!!
( OK, I know, Rosetta... )
MacBook Pro, Dual core 2 GHz, 2 GB RAM, Windows XP installed on a
virtual machine with Parallels Workstatio Beta: 2.1
seconds !!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't know what version of RB you're using, but my old G3 iBook with
640Mb Ram does it in 2.25 seconds...
All the best,
Mark.
