If the window creates the first container control it simply puts a reference to itself into the constructor. If this container control creates another one, it can put the window reference in the new constructor too. Maybe you need a property myWindow As Window in each of your container controls then.
didn't try this yet, but logically I would say that doesn't work... in case the Container Control is placed manually on the window (or in case one of his sub sub sub containercontrols), with the IDE.
