Oh yes, I was never disputing that.  I was only making the claim that RB is 
right not to display such a pop-up by default on the Mac, just because you're 
allowing more than one type in your filter.  If such a pop-up is wanted, there 
should be some extra step in specifying that.

Certainly not; both Microsoft and Adobe apps are Carbon (and probably always 
will be, or at least that's my prediction).  Any good app would use a 
combination of MacType and extension, just like RB does.  It's not the 
filtering that's difficult; RB already does that nicely.  It's just a matter of 
some extra calls to present the pop-up.  I presume anybody who wants this would 
file a feature request.  Personally, there are a lot of other things I'd rather 
RS spend its time on, but maybe that's just me.
