Keith I am using RB 5.5.5 at the moment but will be using RB 2006 in the next 6 months to prepare for universal binaries. So I can only comment in reference to 5.5.5 that I have seen RB apps crash now and then when printing and sometimes crash by just trying to access the page setup settings through a menu item. As printing worksheets is an important feature of the school software that I am about to release, I have no doubt some of my school customers will be reporting intermittent printing problems with the software after release that is related to the issues raised by other RB developers. I am considering various pdf printing workarounds in the short term until RealSoftware eliminate the problem.
Please act on my behalf to liase with RealSoftware. Perhaps you can inquire about the overall cost of fixing Win32 printing as a priority bug fix with Geoff with a view of splitting that cost amongst us developers. This is the most important issue affect Win32 developers and I'm sure there are enough of us on the list who see it as the highest priority on Windows. Any updates from anyone on the the Windows print crashing? I've had no response from REAL Software in months and months despite numerous recent bug report updates on this list and in the feedback system. It's now been years since I first reported the issue. The financial impact on my business has become serious enough for me that abandoning REALbasic for future product development is a serious alternative. Please contact me off list if you would like to participate in a group to formally address this issue with REAL Software.
