Well, so far, I only for the ODBC thing to work correctly with stored procedures ...

I know your pain, believe me. I too never got MySQL through ODBC to work with MySQL 5 (although I'm pretty sure I was able to connect, but it was so terribly slow). Please let me know how the plugin works (haven't tried it myself yet).
