Norm,
Does anyone have open-source (free) code to write native Excel
documents?
Native ... no
The file format is horribly under documented
But, you can write to the XML versions using stuff at my site
This requires Excel 2003 or newer on both platforms
I just took a quick look as i might be able to use it on project I
am working on... I was iriginally just going to output a tab
delimited string either to the clipboard or to text files to paste
into pre-made excel templates... doing it all in RB would mean the
two could not get out of sync.
Is there support for merging cells? (I did not see it)
It's been a while since I did much work on it but I don't recall
explicitly supporting that.
I did see that a center across selection attribute is defined for a
cell ... but I did not see how you set the range of cells that you
want to center across ... Is that supported?
It probably could be if it's not there already.
It's JUST XML and a bunch of classes to support that.
The XML schemas are available from MS I dont recall where though and
the source is there.
I won't have a chance to do anything to this for a bit as I'm very
very busy right now.
