I don't want to start a new crazy thread. But after 3 years, isn't it time then to stop supporting PPC ? Perhaps 4 years. After that, 4 year old computers are to old, and mostly relics. You should consider a lifetime of a computer ca 36 months, but no more than 48 months.

My PowerBook G3 Series Wallstreet from 1998 is the earliest model of Mac that will run OS X, and that will run up to OS X 10.2. (You can run 10.3 using jiggery pokery, but it is not officially supported by Apple). That means about 5+ years of official support. I still use it, although both batteries have died, the CD module is broken, and the screen has finally started to dim, but 7+ years is an average lifespan for a Mac (I know plenty of publishing companies that have used 8 year old Macs). Apple knows this, and has a history of supporting machines well.

So you can assume OS X (or later) will support my iMac G5, purchased 10 days before the Intel iMacs were announced, for at least five years. The Mac world is certainly not the PC world in this respect.
