Editfield masks

Anyone here good with masks ?  I am trying to have an input mask on  
an social id number field, ######-#### but have the option of the  
first character being a question mark (?), I can't get the editfield  
to accept a ? as input.  I have tried to set a and A as the first  
character, but it won't allow anything that is not alpabet or a number.

Anyone ?
