Seeing the time I had first reported about it to the list, the time when I
reported it fixed, knowing I did not work on it all the time, because I've
eaten, taken the kids to bed, watched some tv, etc. I too solved this
problem in well under an hour.

The modern coder takes advantage of OO programming and factors the complete
project into partial ones. Makes developing faster and I can be sure to have
only the dependencies I want. 

With this in place I was able to find a relatively obscure startup/crash bug
like yours within one hour.
