Steve, apart from the fact that your gif images are converted to .bmp
by the Windows IDE (I am fairly certain RB still does this) I wonder
if there is a path issue - this might be something really stupid
about resolving paths.
If you save as XML you should be able to see the image paths.
I think it would be interesting to see what happened if you played
with the image locations, if they are not
a) immediately adjacent to the project
b) in a relatively small directory
c) all named something relatively bland (plain alpha characters)
Maybe you could replace the images by a very generic .bmp of moderate
size and see if that makes a difference.
