For example, in one of my applications which uses the Email classes,
I had the idea to use my own email name and password (since I didn't
wanted the user to know that an email was sent).
But,, being aware of the non-encrypted strings inside the app, I
thought to encrypt them. Problem: these informations must not be
known by anyone.
I really should avoid doing so, iisn't it?
Thank you.

In this case nothing is impossible given enough time and resources.
The idea is to make it too much trouble to break the protection.
If it cost you a week to break the encryption and the software is
$29.95
its much cheaper to just buy the software.
Christians suggestion makes it more difficult to find the hidden data.
Instead of looking for "ABC" you would need to know what to look for
since the string would be in a numeric format. Humans are really
good at spotting text that makes sense. "PASSWORD" is much easier
to visually locate than is "50415353574f5244".

Seems interesting. Is you suggestion simply harder or, better,
impossible to decompile?

Do you have any suggestions?
instead of "ABC" you can write chr(65)+chr(66)+chr(67)
