Sorry, I don't get you.
I see three download versions for Linux. Linux (tgz), Linux (Novel),
and Linux (Redhat).

Howdy,
I don't want to offend anyone, especially since I've never posted here
before, and specifically I'd rather not offend you, but it seems like
you might want to familiarize yourself with linux packaging some more
before even getting into programming for it.
I've done some programming for Linux, in C++. I wrote my makefiles
(with great difficulty, but I did it.) I've set up file sharing to
copy files back and forth.
I'm using Mandrake.
I'll be able to take it from here. The advice is appreciated, though.
If you haven't wrapped your
head around it enough to sort out which of those 3 packages is
going to
work best for you, then it might be high time to find a good NUG for
your particular distro of linux. It isn't like we know what version of
linux you're even using, since you don't seem to have mentioned it
anywhere, even on the off chance that someone still feels like helping
you out with it at that level. Linux isn't anywhere near as
challenging
to install things on as it used to be, but it's still got a steep
learning curve, especially since the various distros now often handle
everything just that much differently.
In any case, best of luck,
