Strange to me, but I cannot check this on Windows. Maybe somebody
else can help you. BTW, have you tried copying from MS Word's text-
only? I agree that Rb5.5's small "..."-button in the constants dialog
was a better approach for entering long strings.

At least for me in Windows if I try to paste a multi line text in
the localized field of a dynamic constant it only paste the first
line.
I tried to paste a plain text from the Notepad with two lines in a
constant and displaying that constant with a msgbox in the open
event, and only the first line is shown.
Is evident when you paste the text in the constant (in Windows that
is) that the rest of the text is nowhere to be found since you
can't "move" around in the text lines to edit it, more obvious
since it's not a multi line edit filed to begin with but a single
line edit field, ok for simple strings but totally inadequate for
multi line ones.
I guess it works ok in MacOSX... it is something like I describe?

Are you sure?
I have various control characters set in the string-controls. You
should first simply type the characters you want in a text-only
program (TextEdit for the Mac eg) and copy from there into Rb's
string constant. Works for me. I even use in that way complete
html/ xtml templates as constants.

Well, I'm on RB2006r2 Windows XP and the constant accept the
whole text as you say only as the default value.
But, in the localized versions it doesn't, it just paste the
first line, the others won't get through....
Really a piti.
I guess I'll fill a bug report :)
Thanks

Copy-paste works perfectly for any character (even whole texts)
in string-constants.

I've used constants for line breaks on occasion, to make code a
bit
more readable than Chr(13). I can just type the line breaks into
string constants (2006r2 pro Mac) (you may need to set to
String by
manually clicking the button), failing that copy and paste a line
break in.
