I use this configuration, on Mac OSX.
But this kind of conflicts is more frequent on Win32.
(I don't know if this conflict is actually a problem on this OS).

Subject: What is needed to use MacOS X localization?
From: Arnaud Nicolet <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Hi,
In a blank project, I've put this code in the Window's mouseDown event:
dim s as string
s=app.BundleLocalizedStringMBS("Test","")
if s="Test" then
msgbox "For developer: the key ""Test"" was not localized for
any language."
end if
MsgBox s
I've compiled the app (as a PEF app, since my final app can't run as
Mach-O) and then I've bundled it (using App Bundler).
In "MyApplication.app/Contents/Resources/", I've added "French.lproj".
I've placed a file ("/resources/french.lproj/Localizable.strings")
which only contains:
"Test"="C'est un test";
(saved as a plain text file).
When I try my app, I only get a blank string (not even the "The key
"Test" was not localized for any language." message).
What else is required for the localization process?

Are you working with RB 5.5 or RB 200x?

Are your .strings files encoded using UTF-16? Apple docs say that
UTF-8 may not work.

You should fill in the entire set. That way you can optimize how the icon
looks at each size. If you don't supply all of the sizes then the OS
scale=
s
whatever is available to fit and it doesn't always look nice.

Subject: MySQL5 & Other things...
From: "Jvan C0rt3s Cv3sta" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Hi! I am beginning in the world of RealBasic, I'm using RB 2005. I
appreciate their characteristics a lot, kindness, programming guided
totally
to objects, to be multi platform, but I find some stones in the road....
:-)
I have some questions and I would thank if somebody could respond me:
1. Does somebody know about some Forum for developers of RealBasic in
Spanish?
2. Can somebody tell me where to find the database plugin to MySQL5? Does
it
exist?
3. Does somebody know about some Free Site to download Components, Classes
like Grids, Treeview, etc..?
4. I began making a program, but has 5 Mb of size, and I have culminated
only the 10% of the Total. I worry about that at the end I will have an
enormous program of 10 or 15 Mb. Why so big? Are there forms of diminishing
the size of the executable one? How does RealBasic manipulate the Libraries
with reusable code, does it include it in the executable one?
I like RealBasic a lot but without a guide I cannot advance anything
Thanks.
Juan.

Subject: HTTPSocket problems
From: Craig Hoyt <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Date: Mon, 3 Jul 2006 09:32:29 -0700
I'm trying to implement on of those 'check the web for newer version'
routines. I have a text file that contains just a version number on
my web site. I use HTTPSocket to retrieve this file and compare
against the current version of my app. All this does work. If my app
has a newer version I have a button appear in my about window which
should let the used download a newer version to their desktop. I'm
getting a error of 1 and it is reported immediately where I would
expect a small delay before reporting an error. I can't seem to find
out what error 1 is. All HTTP errors are in the hundreds range. If I
use the HTTP RB example I can download the file but not from my app.
Here's the code I'm using;
Dim mySocket As New HTTPSocket
Dim f As FolderItem
f = DesktopFolder
If f <> Nil then
mySocket.Yield = true
mySocket.Get( "http://mydomain/Updates/myfile" , f)
else
beep
end if
