I've been experiencing this for a long time too. I filed a bug
report back
in Sept, 2005, but nobody ever joined on, so I thought it was just me.
Here's my report:

The bug is still present in 2006v3. I still can't really trace it
down to
anything specific, but it does occur about 1/5 times when trying to
load the
color picker window. It occurs when using the little "circle"
button next to
an item in the parameter list, and also I've noticed even when
using the CMM
"insert color..." option - so maybe it's something in the way it's
called in
itself. (Seems to happen just randomly when trying to open the
color picker
from any number of places).
Anyways, there's a bug ID if you'd like to sign on :)

Hi,
I have not used this feature in the RB IDE much, but (I think it was
in r2) I have to use it a lot, and then I also get a lot of crashes,
for me it happens just when the color picker should be opened. (I
also in this time trying to get it verified her on NUG)
And as i wrote before I have this problem in my own app in three
years now, it simply quit and close myapp just in this line: ok =
SelectColor(c, "Select a Color")
I call the color picker from a floating window and from a menu item,
and it crash on both places.
In this years I also have a lot of crashes when using Modal windows
and showModalWhitin, i have removed this type of Window and have now
only the color picker left that crash (the color picker is a Modal
Window, so perhaps here is a red line!?)
I could confirm that the RB IDE color picker crash and should sign on
your report.
