So changing the printing font would be a solution then?

deal is RB 5 does note use coregraphics for printing but only for
drawing
you need CG to get the automatic font substitution for a glyph not
present in the current font

only workaround for RB 5 is to make sure the font you're printing has
the correct glyph for that unicode point
