Well, unless RS is developing a MacIntel/Cocoa compiler and framework for V5.5.10 (which seems unlikely), they will be forced to eat their own dog food very soon.

I actually don't think this would be such a big deal and in fact would be very surprised if they haven't already done it.

Consider the IDE (written in RB using the RB200x/5.5.9 framework), the framework and the compiler (I assume a fairly standalone item) as different things.

The IDE is "just" an application that anyone in the RB community could have theoretically written using RB.

Once RS made a robust 5.5.9 that included the framework and compiler from 200x there was nothing preventing them continuing to use that version, until they get to the point of adding controls (used in the IDE) for which their 5.5.x lacked the ability to specify properties. As they obviously added Container Controls and anything else used in RB2005, I suspect it could be a long time before technological need forced them to abandon 5.5.x.

I think it would be a good thing for Geoff to make a formal announcement when the entire team is migrated to using the 200x IDE. Whilst it may be a bit dissonant from the marketing message, it would be a nice gesture to those of us who are lacking a bit of faith (and neither upgrading nor feeling comfortable recommending RB) ;-)
